Why Snowbird

Why snowbird?

As Midwesterners we know the joys and challenges of four seasons. While winter can be beautiful we noticed that we spend most of our time indoors and that our already sedentary lifestyle was becoming too much to bear. The lack of sunshine and vitamin D was having a negative effect on our health and our attitudes. While working outside in the winter my hands were often dry, cracked, and bleeding. Most of the wildlife is either dormant or has gone south for the winter. We started vacationing in warm locations and noticed how much better life can be. If the birds can do it why can't we?

The challenge will be creating new routines and working while surrounded by vacationers. This will not be a vacation. We will not be eating out every meal. We will not be spending tons of money or all of our time enjoying ourselves. We will need to find ways to bring in an income and make sure that we are adding to our savings not subtracting from it.

I quit my job and decided to find virtual work, but now I need a new routine. I need to make sure that I am working 8 hours a day. I gave my self a week to adjust but now it is time to get to work.

I shaved my beard and did a professional photo shoot (Tabitha is my photographer). I surveyed my friends via Facebook and went with the John Oliver (my hair carefully tied back and hidden).

Finding work: I will devote at least an hour a day to searching for job opportunities. I will spend 4 hours per day customizing my resume and applying to the opportunities that I find. I will spend an hour researching other ways to earn money. I will spend an hour updating this blog.
